More on this: - still happens with Kosmic. - does not hang on boot with a vanilla install. - installation of hostap-utils adds /etc/modprobe.d/hostap-utils.conf, which blacklists orinoco etc. per instructions to be found various places, such as Bug #104551. - once this has happened then it hangs during boot - if I boot from another disk, edit the hostap-utils.conf file to no longer blacklist orinoco drivers, then it stops hanging during boot.
Booting in recovery mode, the signficant-looking error message is a repeated: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [swapper:0] Though I have also seen it with [udevadm:410] rather than [swapper:0]. -- hang during boot until orinoco drivers re-enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461654 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
