Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2
There may be other bugs similar, but I couldn't tell if any where due to the reasons I found. Now, I decided to try grub2 as I'm using it at work and it seems to be quite nice. However, at home I am using a software RAID controller using dmraid. The setup for grub2 failed as it said that it could not find a mapping for my boot partitions (which would tell me that it's not loading the proper modules for dmraid.) I have decided to leave it alone for now, and have reverted to grub1.
