Just upgraded to 9.10. The flickering goes away if I hold down the right mouse button and get a contextual menu. However, it reappears in a few minutes. Turning off auto-dimming and similar in power management prevents further flicker, as reported above. However this does not speak well for power management and is not "wife friendly". Hopefully it'll be fixed through update manager soon.
