Sound on Ubuntu 9.10 works, also software volume control and it's more or less plug and play. Remote control doesn't work, same with hardware volume control.
I'm attaching also wireshark log of what was transmitted during plugging in the device and then when I press any key on remote control or hardware volume button(all interrupts were when I pressed something). Is it normal, that when I press different keys, wireshark shows always the same datagram? ** Attachment added: "some wireshark sniffing of the usb device" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34784503/xfi.pcap.tar.gz ** Summary changed: - CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB bad sound, no remote control + CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB no remote control ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: control remote ** Tags removed: sound ** Description changed: + edit: the sound and soft. volume control works on 9.10 + hw not working: CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB driver for device: snd_usb_audio what should work: 1clear sound, 2 infrared remote control and hardware volume control button, 3 no volume control 4. device works with full speed, which is according specification USB 1.0 speed, it should be high speed USB 2.0. what's the problem: 1sound has pops and cracks few times per second. also reported here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6830864&postcount=8 2 remote control in this sound card is not implemented in driver, so no HID device is found, I tried it with lirc and driver usbaudio, but it didn't work. 3. no mixer 4.
