I have a Toshiba A166 with Realtek ALC861, no sound at all when i installed Ubuntu 9.10 I edited /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and put this on a new last line: options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba Now the sound is on but its very very low, and in alsamixer is all at maximum
