Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on 1 PC and my Asus notebook. I upgraded to
Firefox 3.5.4 on both these machines and also on another PC still
running 9.04 (Jaunty).

Asus notebook: Celeron M420, 1G ram, 80G hard disk.
PC A (Karmic): Sempron single-core 2500+, 1G ram, 200G hard disk, Nvidia
GeForce FX 5500 256M.
PC B (Jaunty): Athlon XP single-core 2500+, 1G ram 200G hard disk, Nvidia
GeForce FX 5200 128M.

Site in question is the Hong Kong government's internet leisure link
booking.

1st link: http://leisurelink.lcsd.gov.hk/?lang=en
2nd link: Click on "Facility booking - basic version" and pop-up appears to
check config.
3rd step: Enter letters then load next page.

Before, loads in Jaunty using Firefox 3.5.4 (3 days ago, just before
9.10 release) on all 3 machines for each link was very snappy and fast.
No times were recorded then, of course.

However, now in Karmic on the Asus notebook and PC A, loading has come
to a crawl. Here are some times I recorded using PC A:

1st link: 67 seconds
2nd link: 74 seconds
3rd step: 45 seconds

Using Jaunty, in PC B, I got these times:

1st link: under 2 seconds
2nd link: under 3 seconds
3rd step: under 2 seconds

There is no speed problem in Karmic using Firefox with other sites which
include my banking site login. These appear normal compared to Jaunty
and possibly even faster.

One difference between my Jaunty and Karmic installs is using ext3 and
ext4 respectively. I have not tried using ext3 with Karmic.
