Public bug reported: This bug occurs with media in Konqueror and aKregator, but I was unable to determine what plugin/application is responsible for the embedded media player functionality in this case. This is why I am reporting this against kubuntu-meta.
The bug occurs when opening videos from this address: http://www.yle.fi/yle24/videosali/?a=2&t=1 . The site claims that these are RealMedia sources. I have PCM volume set to a rather low value, and my kmix panel applet controls the PCM value. What happens when I click on any video from the address above, once it is loaded and the plugin gets activated, the PCM volume gets reset to the value 28/31 for my card, nearly at maximum. My ears got a nasty shock from this one the first time. 1) Is the remote site able to set the volume? I doubt it, but if so, this should not be allowed, no matter what. (Of course, if they do this, it's a stupid thing from the service provider, but IMO it still shouldn't be allowed.) 2) More likely, does the plugin, for some obscure reason, reset the volume to a pre-determined value? This, too, shouldn't happen. What plugin is responsible for the embedded play in this case? (I am curious, since I can't see these e.g. in Firefox.) ** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Opening remote realmedia resets PCM volume to high https://launchpad.net/bugs/86454 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
