Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-applet
WHAT HAPPENED: The first gwibber entry in indicator-applet launches a new gwibber instance, that will be listed under evolution and empathy (creating the "double entry"). So, I'll have two gwibber entries in the indicator-applet: the last one that corresponds to the gwibber instance and the original first entry, and it gets worse: if I click the first entry, it will launch *another* gwibber entry, and another, and another... I just notice this because my RAM consumption jumped to the sky. WHAT I EXPECT TO HAPPEN: The dual gwibber entry should be listed as one. The first time I click it, it should launch a gwibber instance, and after it, future clicks should bring the *unique* instance and do not create new instances (just like Empathy does). $ uname -a Linux desktop 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 $ apt-cache policy indicator-applet indicator-applet: Installed: 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://sft.if.usp.br karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy gwibber gwibber: Installed: 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://sft.if.usp.br karmic/universe Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BTW, evolution should be able to "hide itself into indicator-applet". When I close it, it doesn't run in background, so IMHO its indicator- applet entry is useless. I have to keep evolution opened in other workspace to get my mail checked OR open evolution with alltray to be able to minimize it to the notification area, but in this case the mail notification efforts will be duplicated: alltray icon and indicator- applet icon. ** Affects: indicator-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Double entry for gwibber in indicator-applet AND multiple instances of gwibber are created https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/465954 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
