OK, this bug regressed for me after upgrading to Karmic. I still had the script (pdftops) mentioned earlier in this bug report, using dpkg-divert I removed the divert and restored the pdftops.real, but no difference.
I checked the tools on http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/download_prn.html as to find the brprintconf util, but those packages are all i386 and I'm running amd64... Am I missing yet another solution?
