I experience the same problem: attempting to suspend and resume doesn't work on a Lenovo X60t, not by closing the lid and not through the menu.
The following snip from pm-suspend.log seems to suggest that PulseAudio may cause the problem: /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/00powersave suspend suspend: success. /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio suspend suspend: No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.
