I am pleased to report that the external microphone works nicely when tested by System Test (checkbox) on my Asus A2H (A2500H) on Ubuntu 9.10 (Official Release) when run in Live mode and when installed for testing purposes on my Windows XP SP3 partition using Wubi.exe!
