I agree it is a pretty serious issue for many and by no way mean to
imply windows is anything but a well polished turd.  All in all the
upgrade to 9.10 on my netbook (Samsung NC10) was largely seemless (a few
minor issues including this one that took maybe an hour to resolve but
again I am a tech geek that loves the command line) and is much snappier
than any windows as well as even 9.04.  But for Joe Q Public this issue
would be a showstopper.  I agree this needs to be resolved asap as
networking is always one of those issues that scare non techies (and
with crappy drivers like ath5k and imho not so good Network Manager they
should be scared).  We are on the same page.
