Try this. Open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in an editor, and at the
end of this line:

options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N

Add "model=mb5" like this:

options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N model=mb5

Then reboot, and let me know whether you get sound.
