@Steve - Thankyou for the 'nomodeset' option, this works well.... @Guido - I appreciate what you are saying, however as an end user..... This 'bug in the MSI bios' does not seem to be a problem on XP, Vista, Windows 7, or for that matter Ubuntu 9.04. Therefore, as an end user, when I install Ubuntu 9.10 and the problem occurs, whether it is a 'bug in the MSI bios' or not, the perception is that it is a problem with 9.10, and it seems hard to convince someone that it is not, when it works fine with the othe o/s's.
