i did some testing after that i disabled networking in network manager pressed the update button on the weather applet and hovered my mouse over it. It said updating ... then i enabled wireless connected and kept hovering my mouse over it to see whne it would stop saying "updating..." it took a very long time to go away. This makes me suspicious.
