Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This is the expected (and documented) behaviour for 'ls -F':
(from info coreutils 'ls invocation') `-F' `--classify' `--indicator-style=classify' Append a character to each file name indicating the file type. Also, for regular files that are executable, append `*'. The file type indicators are `/' for directories, `@' for symbolic links, `|' for FIFOs, `=' for sockets, `>' for doors, and nothing for regular files. Do not follow symbolic links listed on the command line unless the `--dereference-command-line' (`-H'), `--dereference' (`-L'), or `--dereference-command-line-symlink-to-dir' options are specified. As such, closing INVALID (not a bug). Please do not hesitate in reopening this bug if you feel my response is incorrect, or in reporting any other bugs you may find. Thank you again. ** Changed in: coreutils (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- ls option -F prevents dereferencing symlinks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458455 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
