That's great that Ocular works, but it's irrelevant. We know that there is something special about the file evince is generating -- probably something to do with font embedding -- that is triggering this bug.
But that doesn't mean that evince is buggy. It might be that evince and ocular are both generating correct files, but those files are different, and something in the difference is running into a cups bug.
