Hi All, Same symptoms for me on a Dell Studio XPS 16 running ATI non-free drivers.
Another issue, trying to see if this related, is that on resume, both my external display and laptop display are activated even though I'm using only external display normally. I have to logout and log back in to reset config. Kind of defeats the object of suspend/resume.
