After trying to install Ubuntu 8.04.3, I discovered that when I was trying to manually partition the system the old option that allowed me to change the mounting options is no longer present, so I guess that means this would be resolved, since it was decided sometime ago that setting up your own options was disallowed, or at least hidden to the point where I could no longer find it.
