I only had that problem when I tried the nordic-desktop 6.10 cd (downloaded from ubuntu's website but apparently not supported by them :/ ). Downloaded the original cd and it installed just fine. Think you should wait until Feisty is released (it's only a month away). At least that's what I'm going to do.
