When plugging in this key into a karmic system, lsusb now shows: 0781:5406 SanDisk Corp. Cruzer Micro 1/2/4GB Flash Drive
It's not specific, but it's not incorrect. If they don't use unique USB IDs for each size key, I guess this is the best we'll get. As well, the U3 emulated CD-ROM shows up on the desktop.
