@NoOp: good catch! I downloaded karmic daily 2009-10-14, and tried an install the old way, and got the same sort of errors. So then I took your suggestion and did sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu first, and now the install seems to be going fine.
While I waited for the install I looked around some, and found bug #445050. Looks like they are duplicates (and that one also mentions #440407 as a probable duplicate). Being a newcomer here, I'll let someone else make that call officially. For the record, my test machine's CPU is an Athlon XP 2000+ (notably, most others reporting this problem also have Athlons). -- karmic beta: This computer has only 0 bytes disk space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
