Dave, please try this and report the results: Open a terminal window and
run
lshal -m
then close and reopen the lid. HAL needs to detect the lid open/close
before anything useful can happen...
It would also be useful to have additional information. When you report
the results of the lshal test, please include the output of uname -a
If you could also attach the output of the following commands, that
would be great! (Please attach one file per command, uncompressed, and
please do be sure to attach, not include inline - you'll have to use
Launchpad directly to do this, but it's the best way to present the
information)
sudo lspci -vv
sudo lspci -vvn
sudo dmidecode
Please be sure to use sudo, root privileges are required to get the
neede information.
