I noticed that too, but tried the custom one anyway. I included a call to it in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-keymap.rules and restarted. I repeated the test in comment #2 and still brightness was not recognized. Does it matter that the default Acer keymap sets two different values for brightnessup and brightnessdown? I've attached my default Acer keymap to clarify.
