David, can you update your system completely, and then start system-
config-printer (System -> Administration -> Printing) and click the New
Printer button. In the printer wizard open the network printer part of
the device list and choose your printer. What is then written at the
upper right of the window? Click on "Connection" at the bottom. What is
pre-selected there? The right choice for getting printer and scanner to
work is "HPLIP - HP Imaging and Printing". Is this the pre-selected one?
