When I tried going to tty1 and doing pm-suspend, all I got was $ sudo pm-suspend * Reloading Postfix configuration Then nothing - Ctrl-Alt-F2 , Ctrl-Alt-Del ... nothing. When doing it from the menu, I get a couple of seconds - the desktop fades, I can see the window for unlocking the screen, and then the system is locked.
