I can't tell you something about upstream as I don't need speak haskell. Therefore I wouldn't be of much help as a bug contact but I could look now and then at the bugs and try to resolve them with upstream (I don't have any contact with upstream yet).
gtk2hs was first uploaded to feisty and FTBFS as we already have ghc 6.6.
