Problem shows with fresh install of client on 1.1.29, so it seems to be environmental because this combination has been extremely reliable on 9.04 all the way back to 1.1.20 or before, I have run this version of eve on Wine since it came out... and I've never seen this error. The frequency of the problem varies slightly depending on the build of wine I install and where it comes from, but the problem is the same each time.
Start the client, and the logo comes up, then it goes to background colour and hangs, instead of going black, as it initialises the graphics engine.
