I have an Asrock AM2NF6G-VSTA MB with Athlon 4000+ x2, booted karmic
alpha6 with dual core support. So could you please:

1. check your BIOS is upgraded to latest version, and BIOS setting is correct 
and see if Windows can detect the 2nd core correctly
2. check /boot/grub/grub.cfg as well since there might be some kernel command 
line options may matter
3. try latest karmic release to see if this has been fixed
