Hi Michael, Thanks for the info. I can't seem to activate the mic doing that. I keep switching to microphone 2 and all I get is silence. I think Pulseaudio is the culprit here.
My Vaio is vgn-fw139e if that matters. Everything else works fine including my internal video camera. Did you do anything special other than what you mentioned below? Thanks for your help.
