This appears to be an ill advised 'fix' and some consideration should be given to reverting the 02 patch.
While it will work as intended some some combinations of hardware types and configurations it by no means works on all and most likely not even the majority. Can confirm with what Mr. Gardner has posted some minor differences that are for the most part unimportant other than the fact that even the 'misbehaviour' is inconsistent. On 2 desktops with 4 drives total only 1 out of the 4 will remove the mount when manually ejected.
