Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal
There have been many problems with the switch detection. But un Jaunty I have been able to make wireless properly by not upgrading the hal package, but since Karmic, network-manager cannot be used anymore. This is a major problem, because I cannot see any workaround for "normal" users that cannot use wpa_supplicant. rfkill reports: 1: dell-wifi: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: yes 2: dell-bluetooth: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes 3: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no I have tried echoing 1 to /sys/devices/virtual/rfkill/rfkill1/state with not success. Is there anything that can be done to "force" the switch being detected as ON until there is a permanent fix ?
