I can verify the problem exists in Karmic in a clean installation with no optional repositories activated or additional repositories added. The package eeepc-acpi-scripts version 1.0.10 exists in section "Utilities (universe)" and depends on acpi-support-base, which does not exist in the Ubuntu repositories.
I tried installing this package to see if it would solve a problem I am having with using the Fn-F2 (wireless switch) function key combination. Fn-F2 disables the wireless card and turns off the blue indicator light, but when pressed a second time the blue light comes back on but the wireless fails to restart properly. This problem turns out to be solvable with the kernel parameters "pciehp.pciehp_force=1 pciehp.pciehp_poll_mode=1", so I doubt eeepc-acpi-scripts would have solved that particular problem. For my Asus Eee PC 900A at least, with the exception of the Fn-F6 (the Windows Task Manager launcher) key combination all the special function keys appear to work properly without eeepc-acpi-scripts, including Fn-F5 (internal/external monitor switch). I don't know if this package was necessary for other models of the Eee PC, but for the 900A it seems to be unnecessary. -- [jaunty] acpi-support does not support all ACPI keys in EeePC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
