** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel On Karmic with latest updates, video in full screen in Totem and Smplayer start to flicker when you move the mouse because it causes the controls to appear and then flickers again when the controls disappear. While flickering, the desktop behind the video would occasionally show up. When I turn off compiz the flickering disappears. There is also no flickering with metacity with compositing enabled; none with mutter either (I have a testing copy of gnome-shell). But the flicker reappears with kwin with compositing enabled.
