Lowering the severity of this bug report. In recent Ubuntu releases, xscreensaver-command is only called if xscreensaver is found running. Users running the GNOME desktop will have both gnome-power-manager and gnome-screensaver running, so g-p-m will handle the screen locking policy (and indeed, acpi-support is effectively a no-op if g-p-m is running); users running a KDE desktop have a similar situation. Running gnome-screensaver or kscreensaver without the corresponding desktop power manager is a corner case.
