I'm getting this bug again in the LiveCDs for Kubuntu Karmic, both in Alpha 6 and now in the Beta release... not only on the login screen but on the desktop itself (which of course is very annoying since this makes everything unusable).
Since I couldn't perform a "normal" installation from the Live CD, I did a Wubi installation hoping that once everything were installed it would look ok, but it didn't. Adding '-dpi 96' to ServerArgsLocal in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc and restarting "solves" the problem (as suggested here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1257485) Here's the info on my video card: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) Subsystem: Packard Bell B.V.
