I found it now. Do you think there is a way of making that obvious to
the user?

What about- 
when gedit finds somebody writing codes (it automatically detects the lanugage 
already, right?) it suggests in a baloon that says-

"Related plugins are available."

The user could choose between- 
1. Yes, show me. (Goes to browser with the url which lists plugins related to X 
<programming language.>
2. No, not now. (Next time when the user writes the same language, the baloon 
pops up.)
3. I don't want to know/I already know. (Gedit shuts up. :) )


Kinda like the way firefox asks users if he/she wants to save the password?
