Problem does not only concern the binary. I found that the exact command which is called from the gnome-control-center is
gksu gksu --desktop /usr/share/applications/software-properties.desktop /usr/bin/software-properties I believe this should be at least gksu /usr/bin/software-properties to use the symlink.
