I have tracked down the issue in more detail on Fedora, and it turns out that all versions of midori later than 0.1.4 will work there correctly in conjunction with webkitgtk version 1.1.10 and later. What happens when you install midori? The webkit version reported in comment #3 appears to be up to date. As far as epiphany is concerned, I am also forced to use the last xulrunner based version of epiphany which is 2.26.3.
