Could you please allow let us know what happens if you connect through the command line as this may help us narrow down on the package affecting this bug. A guide for this is available at: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-troubleshoot-wireless-network- connection-in-ubuntu.html Also when refering to the wifi being turned on and off, is this something that the machine is doing by itself or is it possible that you are flicking the switch which disable wifi on your own machine. Your distance from your access may also be an issue, I would recommend going closer to the access point and tell us if the issue re-occurs.
