I hope that this gets fixed until the release of Karmic. I mean a setting like this is insane with a Laptop or Netbook. Even worse it is not so easy possible to compile an own version of mail-notification in Karmic because of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mail-notification/+bug/435789 .
