Ah, so this line in fstab explains the bad floppy:

/dev/scd0       /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0       0
/dev/scd0       /media/floppy0  auto    rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0       0

Did you happen to add that manually there, or was that set up that way
by the karmic installer? Please do

  sudo gedit /etc/fstab

and remove the floppy line there.
