I have reverted a fully updated a6 to libbrasero/brasero 2.27.92 and have 
regained full and proper use of the cd/dvd drives.
Additionally the previously broken gksu nautilus is now fully functional both 
from Alt+F2 and the terminal

The only caveat to use of gksu nautilus is the cd/dvd drive must not be
in an 'open' state

A screenshot is posted here showing a root nautilus, installed versions
of brasero/libbrasero-media0, desktop icons and 2 drives correcting
auto-mounting with notification
