I also tried unchecking the "available to all users" box and editing the
IPv4 info, and also deleting the  "Auto eth0" connection and recreating
it.  I didn't get crashes but I haven't been able to get NM to actually
use the static IPv4 info ... it always seems to end up using DHCP.
