There is no way compiz can be responsible for this, it is drawing the shadows the same way on resume as it was before you suspended. Something in X or the driver changed to make the shadow corrupted. Compiz caches the shadows and just reuses the same texture for them for all windows so the texture would not be updated. This is why Ctrl-Alt-F1 and back fixes the problem as switching away from X empties VRAM and when you switch back all the textures have to be uploaded again.
