Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: viking

When attempting to acquire waypoints/tracks from my GPS device in Viking
0.9.8, I get the following message box: "Aquire from GPS - Done. device:
N/A" which seems to indicate that the GPS device couldn't be found.
After this Viking proceeds to create a new layer called "Acquired from
GPS" with no data in it. I would expect that if no data could be
acquired no new layer should be created.

It doesn't appear to matter what I specify in the "Serial Port:" text
box. For what it's worth, here is the output lsusb produces when my GPS
device is connected and turned on:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 091e:0003 Garmin International GPSmap (various models)
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 on a Dell Inspiron 6000.
