Public bug reported:

I'm running Virtualbox 3.06 on host 9.04 with kernel 2.6.30-10-generic.

The guest is 9.10 with kernel 2.6.31-11.

Every time when I'm restarting it finds an
'unexpected inconstency; RUN fsck MANUALLY
mountall: fsck / [432] terminated with status 4
mount all: Filesystem has errors: /
init: mountall main process (277) terminated with status 2
rm: cannot remove '/forcefsck' : Read-only file system
init: mountall post-stop process (455) terminated with status 1
Filesystem check failed.
A maintenance shell will now be started.
CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and re-try.'

If I'm forcing the VB to abort it will start up OK.

If I'm following the recommendation to run fsck manually and entering
fsck og accepting Fix(y) it checks the file system.

It ends with reporting

'***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****
***** REBOOT LINUX ****'

Now pressing CONTROL-D ends with

'init: mountall-shell main process (462) terminated with status 3'

and a crash seems to the result. I cannot escape from the terminal and
only a hard-reboot can be done.
