I had the same experience while installing the Karmic alpha 6 Ubuntu version.
After the complete install process, the normal Window with the hint to reboot the system appears. When hitting the reboot butten, the system does NOT shut down clearly, but repeatedly shows the terminal window (but with enlarged font) for a fraction of a second, then shows a black screen, then again the terminal with the enlarged font. It was too fast for me to make a snapshot (installing on VirtualBox) [perhaps I'm to old for this task or my PC is to fast for me <g>] Therefore the screen with the hint to take out the installation CD did NOT appear. and after 6 or seven rounds I gave up. After switching off, the boot is normal - except for the error messages described in BUG #430272 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- Alpha 6 does not complete exit or reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345644 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
