Seem that this machine has the outdated mesa: 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu3. This is very likely the same bug as bug #429241, try updating mesa to the 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu4 which has a fix which affects suspend/resume and missing window contents.
