I have had this bug also. Since this was very annoying that synaptic compains about errors with every update/installation, I searched for a solution and came to this bug report.
I could solve this by installing the debian unstable package as mentioned above. For anyone other who has this problem and comes to this bug page, the following packages solved the problem for me: http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/fontconfig http://packages.debian.org/unstable/libs/fontconfig-config http://packages.debian.org/unstable/libs/libfontconfig1 download every .deb into a folder and install them via "dpkg -i *.deb" - thats it btw: i think that should be solved since this error is there quite a while and it is already fixed (in debian - so why not in ubuntu ?!? ) -- error scanning https://launchpad.net/bugs/76778 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
